Staff are often needing breaks while students are flying down the corrugated road during training sessions. Outside our normal training session the students love getting on the bikes and it is difficult getting the bikes back in the shed, which is incredible. Two weeks to go and the team is getting stronger. About 18 students have participated in training and on Friday the final team will be selected. Our main support man Tim Johnstone is constantly thinking about strategies on how we can include academic work on the Gibb Challenge when students are not on the road. Andi from Kimberley Cycles will be coming out on Sunday to run a bike mechanic workshop and will join a training session with the team. We cannot express how great people have been with the Gibb Challenge. Simon the super event coordinator and amazing Andy have been supporting us in ways we couldn't have asked for. We might just survive this year with a smile on our face but with this challenge now underway that smile will be ongoing for years!!! Hope you don't get too sick of me talking about the Gibb Challenge but we have officially started training. Two sessions today, some team members participating in both sessions so we are very pleased with that. Our butts are getting sore, blisters are popping up and dust up our brains!!
Love all the support, we are going to rock this ride. Also, they only took their helmets off for the photo!! Bush Love from Marte and don't forget to donate at givematcher |
